Over a dozen volunteers recently came together to renovate a previously bare and unused patio for Ronald McDonald House Charities of New Mexico. Along with partner Accent Landscaping, our team created a new outdoor space for guests and staff to dine and relax in a private, shaded courtyard.
In all, the patio renovation team cleared and excavated the site, set new irrigation, installed new metal edging, planted, moved landscaping materials (about 5 tons) into the site, and installed outdoor furniture over a two-day period. The Girl Scouts of New Mexico even chipped in by cleaning and prepping the yard for excavation.
HB employees noticed the need for an upgrade after years of Guest Chef Nights, where volunteers prepare home-cooked meals for guests. The project is a testament to what can be done in only a few days through expertise, partnerships, and a little elbow grease. We extend our sincere gratitude to Accent Landscaping and all volunteers for supporting this rewarding community endeavor.

The Yale House provides overnight stays to 31 families each night as they seek lifesaving treatments at local area hospitals. The House guest rooms provide safe and comfortable spaces for families to rest and recharge together following long days at the hospital. More than a roof over their heads, these accommodations relieve families of the stresses of finding a place to stay while far from home and allow parents to be stronger partners in their children’s critical care.
