With the groundbreaking of the San Roque Apartments, HB Construction and partners celebrated a major win for safe, affordable housing in Albuquerque. Our team commemorated the development’s progress alongside Thomas Development, Erstad Architects, Supportive Housing Coalition of New Mexico, NM Mortgage Finance Authority, Bernalillo County, and the City of Albuquerque. The ceremony was a testament to each participant’s shared passion for quality supportive housing.
San Roque is a 165,735 sq ft, 4-story building located near the corner of Coors Boulevard and Los Volcanes in Albuquerque’s west side. The 137-unit complex will feature one, two, and three-bedroom apartments. Amenities will include washers and dryers in each unit, elevators, a fitness room, a business center, a meeting room where support services or counseling can be conducted, playgrounds, community gardens, and a fenced perimeter with security gates.
“The demand for more affordable housing is more apparent now than ever before, not just for those in need but for our community overall. Safe housing for all fosters safer streets and safer neighborhoods for all. By building homes, we also build more jobs, more economic growth for Albuquerque, and more opportunity,” said Laura Chavez, President/ CEO for Supportive Housing Coalition of NM.
After providing extensive preconstruction services, HB Construction will serve as the general contractor on the project. HB is joined by a team of local specialty contractors, including Guzman Construction, Nelson Construction, All Weather Roofing, and others.
The ceremony and apartments were featured in an in-depth article in Construction Reporter.
