HB Construction was recognized as a top safety performer for 2017 by Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc. (ABC). HB received high honors for safety performance—Platinum Level—based on safety performance data, including recordable and incident rates.
Safety Coordinator Dave Clark attended the ceremony to receive the award on behalf of HB. “It’s an honor. It shows the care and commitment we have for our staff and for the contractors that work with us,” said Mr. Clarke.
Established in 1989 by ABC, the Safety Training and Evaluation Process (STEP) program works with contractors to evaluate safety standards and performance. Its focus on training and education puts it firmly in line with safety thinking at HB.
HB continues to embrace critical analysis of its safety program with an eye on continual improvement. “It’s easy to get complacent. We’ve put ourselves in a good position by getting better every day,” said HB Safety Director Cameron Potter. “And the results show that.”
With three certified OSHA outreach trainers on staff, HB makes on and off-site safety education a key part of its safety mission. HB instructors offer certification services through classes that emphasize task-specific safety and responses to real-world situations.
