Congratulations to the 2023 Ethos Awards winners who were recognized at this year’s company-wide Annual Meeting! These awards celebrate team members who have been nominated by their peers for demonstrating HB Construction’s core values through their actions and exemplary work. Of 48 total nominations, over a third shared stories demonstrating the value of teamwork. Winners from each category are included below with select peer nominations:
Service: Adrian Delgado
Nomination: “Quite simply, I am nominating Adrian Delgado for his dedication to HB, always showing up, and making sure to provide a top-quality product despite challenging circumstances. His service to HB, as well as the client, is outstanding.”
Integrity: Felipe Luna
Nomination: “Felipe Luna exemplifies all of HB’s values: he is a great leader, is always willing to help when needed, goes above and beyond on quality and safety, and does it all with integrity. He will be the first to admit when he is wrong, will be transparent and earn the trust of his trade partners, and is never afraid to have difficult conversations.”
Community: Kaitlyn Thacker
Nomination: “Kaitlyn Thacker brings great contagious energy to the group she is around.”
Safety: Ted LaCoe
Nomination: “Despite our best attempts to reach a perfect safety score at our jobsite, Ted LaCoe never takes it easy on us. He consistently monitors our jobsite and calls us out when anything is not up to par. It is great to be constantly challenged to find a better way to do things to a higher level of safety and efficiency.”
Teamwork: Bryan Cain
Nomination: “HB has a great group of employees, and ever since I started, everyone that I have had contact with has been exemplary in all the categories, but Bryan Cain has been the most helpful of all. His ability when issues arise to quickly have the problem’s answer to mitigate its impact is a trait that few possess. As a new hire, Bryan was always willing to help with my questions about reports, daily superintendent responsibilities, and the overall expectations of HB… Plus, most of the time he laughs at my jokes!”
Sustainability: Jacob Tonks
Nomination: “Jacob Tonks has shown to be extremely detailed in knowing scopes and how they correlate to the contracts. As such, the buy-out for his projects helps HB to be successful in the long term. I watched Jacob during a meeting, and at every turn, Jacob had all the facts laid out to protect HB from any scope gap. Very impressive!”
Workforce: Matt Casas
Nomination: “Matt Casas produces exceptional quality and attention to detail. You can tell Matt is passionate about his work by the way he runs his jobsite and interacts with subcontractors to get the job done.”
President’s Award: David Winsor
Project of the Year Award: Las Cruces Regional Aquatic Center Community Competition Pool
