Seven months into renovations at the Colorado School for the Deaf & Blind, HB Construction received an unexpected source of inspiration. Students and teachers at the Colorado Springs school came together to deliver a handwritten ‘thank you’ note to the project team, with blind students attaching their names in braille.
“Thank you for all your hard work. It truly means a lot,” wrote one hearing impaired student.
In addition to undertaking the Jones Hall renovations on the school’s active campus, HB Construction has been eager to look beyond construction to support students and staff. The project team led an effort to fulfill requests made at the school’s annual “giving tree” event, with many students requesting jackets and clothing for their parents and siblings.
“We called it ‘crush the tree.’ Every gift request was met,” said HB Construction Regional Manager George Anderson. “Just being able to help in our small way was humbling.”
